Terms of use
Effective October 16, 2026. These terms are a contract between you and A11ie for your use of Allie at a11ie.io.
1. Who we are and who these terms cover
Allie is operated by JM, doing business as A11ie, a sole proprietorship in Massachusetts, United States (“we”, “us”). You can reach us at hello@a11ie.io. By using the site, running a scan, creating an account or buying anything, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy policy. If you use Allie for an organisation, you confirm you can accept these terms for it. You must be at least 18 years old.
2. What Allie does
Allie loads one public web page you submit in an automated browser and tests it with the open-source axe-core engine against WCAG 2.2 Level A and AA rules. It shows the results, suggests HTML fixes and can produce a PDF report. The methodology page explains the method and its limits.
3. What Allie is not: no guarantee, no legal advice
- Automated testing finds only some accessibility issues. It is not an accessibility audit, and it cannot confirm that a page works for people using assistive technology.
- Results describe only the page, the state of the page and the moment scanned. Pages change, and a different visit can give different results.
- A report is not a certificate or a statement of conformance. It does not certify, guarantee or prove conformance with WCAG, the ADA, Section 508, EN 301 549, the European Accessibility Act, AODA or any other law or standard, and it does not protect you from complaints, claims, demand letters or lawsuits.
- Suggested fixes are starting points. A developer should review and test them before you publish them. Applying a fix is at your own risk.
- Nothing in Allie, on this site or in our emails is legal advice, and we are not a law firm. Talk to a qualified lawyer about your legal obligations.
- Allie is independent. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Deque Systems, the W3C or any regulator.
4. Your account
You are responsible for your account, for keeping your password secure and for activity under it. Give us a correct email address, because we send verification, password reset and billing messages there. Tell us right away at hello@a11ie.io if you think your account was misused.
5. Acceptable use
Allie can load any publicly reachable web page. You are responsible for submitting only pages you own, or have permission to test, or that you otherwise have a lawful reason to test. You must not:
- use Allie to attack, overload or disrupt a site, or to probe private or internal networks (these addresses are blocked);
- try to get around rate limits, usage limits or security controls;
- resell, scrape or automate the service in bulk without our written permission;
- use the service to break the law or infringe others' rights.
Scans identify themselves as AllieA11yBot. Site owners who do not want to be scanned can write to hello@a11ie.io. We may limit, suspend or end access for abuse or breaches of these terms.
6. Payments, renewals and taxes
- Single report. A one-time purchase that unlocks the full results, HTML fixes and PDF report for one scan.
- Subscriptions. Individual and Premium plans are billed monthly in advance and renew automatically each month at the then-current price until cancelled. Each plan includes the number of scans shown on the pricing page. Unused scans do not roll over.
- Payment processing. Payments are handled by Stripe. We never receive or store your card number.
- Prices and taxes. Prices are in US dollars. Any applicable taxes are shown or added at checkout where required.
- Price changes. If we change the price of a subscription, the new price is shown on the pricing page and applies from your next renewal. You can cancel before then.
- Features marked “coming soon” are not available yet, are not part of what you buy today, and may change or never launch.
7. Cancelling
You can cancel a subscription at any time from your account page using “Manage billing”, which opens Stripe's billing portal. Cancellation stops future renewals. You keep the plan until the end of the period you have already paid for. If you cannot use the portal, email hello@a11ie.io and we will cancel it for you.
8. Refunds
Payments are non-refundable, except where the law requires a refund or where the service failed, for example you were charged and the report or scan could not be delivered, or you were charged twice. If you think this applies, email hello@a11ie.io within 30 days of the charge with the details, and we will review it. We do not provide partial refunds for unused scans or unused time in a billing period.
9. Your content and our rights
You keep any rights you have in the pages you submit and in the content of your site. You give us permission to load the page, process it, and store the URL and the results (including snippets of the HTML that failed a test) so we can run the service, show you reports and keep our service safe. Allie, its design, code, branding and reports' layout belong to us or our licensors. You may use your reports for your own business purposes, including sharing them with colleagues and clients. Allie uses open-source software, including axe-core, which is licensed under the Mozilla Public License 2.0 and remains under that license.
10. Report links
Each report has a long, random web address. Anyone with that address can open the report. Treat it like a private link, share it carefully, and delete the scan from your account if you no longer want it available.
11. Service availability and changes
We work to keep Allie running, but we do not promise it will always be available, error-free or uninterrupted. We may change, add or remove features. We may suspend the service for maintenance or security reasons. Third-party sites that you scan may block or behave differently toward our scanner.
12. Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent the law allows, Allie is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that results will be free of false positives or false negatives.
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows: (a) we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill, or for the costs of any claim, complaint, demand, settlement or legal proceeding relating to the accessibility of your site, even if we were told they were possible; and (b) our total liability to you for all claims relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or US $50. Some places do not allow certain limits, so some of this may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
14. Indemnity
You agree to cover reasonable losses we suffer from third-party claims caused by your breach of these terms, including scanning pages you had no right to test, to the extent the law allows.
15. Ending your use
You can stop using Allie at any time. You can ask us to delete your account and the data tied to it by emailing hello@a11ie.io; we handle these requests by email. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms or misuse the service. Sections that by their nature should survive (such as 3, 9, 12, 13, 14 and 17) survive termination.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The effective date at the top of this page shows the latest version. If you keep using Allie after a change, you accept the updated terms. If you do not agree, stop using the service and cancel any subscription before your next renewal.
17. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute that we cannot resolve informally will be brought in the state or federal courts located in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and you and we consent to those courts. Before filing a claim, please email hello@a11ie.io and give us 30 days to try to resolve it. Mandatory consumer-protection laws of the place where you live still apply where they cannot be waived.
18. General
These terms and the Privacy policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Allie. If a part is unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. If we do not enforce a right, we have not given it up. You may not transfer your rights under these terms without our consent. We may transfer ours, for example to a company that takes over the service.
